Party in the Near South Loop!
The Greater South Loop Association presents THE BASH ON WABASH, located in the heart of the Near South Loop community on Wabash Avenue between 13th and 14th streets. This two-day festival, Saturday and Sunday, August 6th & 7th, celebrates the cultural diversity of Chicago’s fastest growing new neighborhood. THE BASH ON WABASH promises to be an unforgettable cultural experience highlighting the diversity of our community. Local artisans will be displaying their creations. Area restaurants, showcasing some of the most interesting cuisines in town, will be on hand for you to sample their culinary treats. Also, patrons will be able to enjoy various live musical bands and other entertainment running from noon to 10 p.m. all weekend!
This third year BASH ON WABASH event promises to provide the diversity that is central to this community. The Near South Loop area is Chicago’s hottest and fastest growing new neighborhood with a 40% boost in population in the last ten years. The new neighborhood combines the history and grandeur of the Museum Campus, the natural beauty of the lakefront and Burnham Harbor, and the juxtaposition of old and new architecture at Soldier Field. The historical significance of the area is on display on Prairie Avenue. This area also includes the nation’s largest convention center at McCormick Place. The diverse and outstanding restaurants range from upscale sushi to fast food subs. All of this is easily accessed via the CTA Red, Orange or Green lines with an “L” stop at Roosevelt Road, the 1, 3, 3X, 4, 4X and 29 CTA buses, and the Metra line at 18th Street. With all of the attractions, it is easy to understand why Mayor Daley’s home neighborhood is quickly becoming one of the most desirable areas in the city.
The Greater South Loop Association is committed to the revitalization of Chicago’s Near South Side as a vibrant and dynamic residential community. As an organization comprised primarily of residents of the near south, we seek to encourage planned development within our boundaries and strive to advance the mutually beneficial needs of our members. Our objectives include the promotion of friendship, unity and cooperation through social, cultural and charitable activities; the support of beautification, security, safety and maintenance programs which enhance the aesthetic and physical aspects of the community; and the review, adaptation and backing of municipal actions and ordinances which positively affect our members. As an alliance, we will support and advocate local business endeavors that also promote the cultural, spiritual and physical needs of this growing residential community.
