2020 Run the South Loop virtual 5k race
August 1 @ 12:00 am - August 31 @ 11:30 pm CDT$20
Be a part of the South Loop’s newest community event!
There are a lot of activities and events missing from the South Loop this summer; festivals, Movies in the Park, Summer Dance, and the many race events that pass through the neighborhood.
This year we’re starting a new tradition with our very own neighborhood 5k run/walk, in a virtual format.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL 5K?
A virtual 5k gives you the support of a fellow community of runners along with the flexibility to complete your race on your schedule and desired route. You can run or walk outdoors or on a treadmill and either alone or with a group of friends (please observe proper social distancing).
It’s all about setting a goal to complete the race distance and following through. Then put that hard-earned medal around your neck, take a selfie, and share your accomplishment with fellow participants by posting a photo on social media and in the dedicated event Facebook group!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Find your motivation and sign up!!!
- Run or walk a 5k distance during the month of August
- Don your custom race medal and share your achievement on social media using the hashtag #run thesouthloop
- Enjoy the post-run feeling of accomplishment
The race packet includes your official race medal and race t-shirt.
Race packets will be available for pickup in the neighborhood. Participants will receive details about race packet pickup dates and location.
The registration fee is $20 and includes a custom Run the South Loop 5k race shirt and finisher medal.
Space is limited! Register today to reserve your race shirt and medal!!
— Registration closes on Sunday, August 2 —
Proceeds from this event will support the Greater South Loop Association’s efforts to bring programming and neighborhood enhancement initiatives to the neighborhood. 25% of the proceeds will be used to engage Cleanslate, a not-for-profit entity that provides transitional employment and job skill training, to periodically clean the trash and litter from the sidewalks along the Roosevelt Corridor throughout the summer and fall months.
