Owners are proposing to convert the existing vacant office building at 2036 S. Michigan into a 65 unit residential apartment building. The plans also call for a main floor lobby and a retail space. There would be no change to the existing building’s size or height. All of the proposed conversion work would be contained within the existing building. There would be on-site parking for approximately 19 cars. The remaining required parking spaces would be located immediately across the street at 2102 S. Michigan Ave. To permit those off-site parking spaces, the Zoning Department requires the owners to apply for a Special Use. The Special Use is the only anticipated zoning relief required for this project. The project is otherwise permitted by the current zoning.
