The GSLA’s mission is to bring neighbors together to create a vibrant, inclusive South Loop community, which must include a thriving local business community. Our Business Spotlight series is intended to increase awareness of small businesses in the area, so residents can shop locally to keep more of their dollars within the community to drive more local investment.
Grant’s Financial Services specializes in individual and business tax planning and preparation, and bookkeeping and payroll for small business. They specialize in start-ups, eCommerce business (online), and non-profit organizations. Grant’s Financial Services is located at 2008 South Wabash.
We sat down with DeAnna Grant, the founder and CEO, to hear more about her business and outlook on the neighborhood.
What does your business do?
Individual and Business Taxes, Bookkeeping and Payroll for Small Business. We Specialize in start-ups, eCommerce business (online), and non-profit organizations.
Why did you choose the South Loop as the location for your business?
We moved to the South Loop five years ago because it is a rapidly growing neighborhood with lots of energy, which is still the case today. I also love that it is closely located to the downtown area minus the hustle and bustle of the Loop.
What sets your business apart?
Over the past 15 years I’ve gained extensive experience supporting a wide variety of businesses, which allows me to tailor services based on industry, not “one size fits all”. I like to consult with my clients, going beyond just keeping the books. As a small business owner myself, I know what it’s like to feel pulled in a variety of directions, especially when establishing your business, and I like to do what I can to help and support those who are where I’ve already been.
Do you live in the area?
I’m a lifelong Chicago resident, born and raised in Hyde Park. I currently live in Bronzeville.
What do you think are the best features of the South Loop?
There are many, but some of the best include safety and the friendliness I’ve experienced from neighbors and business owners. There are also so many great restaurants, spas, and boutiques in the area waiting to be explored – I love it!
When she’s not busy serving her clients, DeAnna also gives back to the South Loop community through her involvement as the Treasurer of the South Loop Business Exchange, a local chamber of commerce organization. She also delivers speaking engagements and workshops for small business owners.
